Being childhood friends is a pretty good indicator that by the time you grow up and fall in love, you’re going to know that person inside and out. Martina and Ronan really do know each other and I have to say, they support and love each other inside and out too.
This was an Irish wedding with a large number of guests, family and friends travelling over from Ireland and they didn’t come all this way to not have a good time! Irish weddings are fun and boy they know how to party. Even after the band and music had officially ended it was not over yet, not as long as there were still a few drinks to drink and a microphone left laying around, not that anyone really needed that to keep the music and singing going.
Now, to the beautiful bride and her handsome groom….
This is their story!
Ronan and Martina | Our Story
Tell us how you first met? Who, what, when, where, why? Give us the details.
We first met at primary school together, we grew up together and we were in the same primary and secondary school class.
But we didn’t get together until Ronan came home for a holiday to Ireland from NYC to attend his cousin’s wedding and we got together that day and the rest is history.
When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did? etc.
I think I always knew he was the one, right from when I was a young child I liked him, and knew I would marry him some day.
Ronan says he knew I was the one, because he felt we were compatible had the same interests, “she supports me and encourages me”.
Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)
The engagement was in Mooloolaba - not really, I had seen the ring up there a few weeks ago was telling Ronan about it. After years of looking for the perfect one, I knew this one was the one.
So that day we were up there with family and I popped into the shop to show him. I thought it was gone and apparently from the look on my face when I thought it wasn’t there, Ronan knew it was the one, so he went back in and bought it. He put it away for another day. Later we were all on the beach having a walk and he pulled me over to one side and got down on one knee on the rock on the beach overlooking the water and popped the question. It was beautiful. My niece, cousin and daughter were there to witness it and get lots of pictures. Then we went to local restaurant for lunch and bubbles to celebrate.
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
Ronan loves my drive and my positive energy.
Martina loves his caring nature and how he supports his family.
Besides getting married ‐ what’s the one thing you were looking forward to on your wedding day?
Martina - time with the family having a laugh and dancing the night away
Ronan - drinking at the bar
Tell us about your honeymoon? Where and why?
None yet - maybe next year
We got to spend 10 days in Noosa and 4 days in Brisbane with our family and friends from Ireland to show them this gorgeous place
What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regard to planning?
To remember it is about us not everyone else, do what makes you happy not anyone else.
To take more time together on the day.
